Dr. Larry J. Brothers

Dr. Larry Brothers graduated from University of Missouri School of Optometry, St Louis, MO in 1984. This followed his undergraduate training at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He received his certification in diagnostic/therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and later became certified in treatment and management of glaucoma patients from the University of Missouri College of Optometry in St. Louis. Dr. Larry practices all aspects of primary optometric care, including contact lenses, treatment of eye diseases, pathologies, infections, and disorders, and co-manages pre and post operative care of patients choosing refractive LASIK surgery and cataract surgery with area ophthalmologists. Dr. Larry is currently a member of the Missouri Optometric Association, SW MO Optometric Society, member of the Heart of America Contact Lens Society, American Optometric Association and the Missouri Optometric Foundation. He maintains active membership with the Joplin Chamber of Commerce and Joplin Rotary Club. Dr. Larry Brothers was born and raised in Joplin, attended Joplin schools, and is currently an active member with the Second Assembly of God. He likes to spend his free time with his wife Rosie, and their son, Dalton, who attends MSSU in Joplin.


Dr. Dennis W. Bezold

Dr. Dennis Bezold graduated from University of Missouri School of Optometry, St Louis, MO in 1986. This followed his undergraduate training at Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, MO where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in July 1976. He received his certification in diagnostic/therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and later became certified in treatment and management of glaucoma patients from the University of Missouri College of Optometry in St. Louis. Dr. Dennis Bezold has been associated with the group practice since 1986. Dr. Dennis Bezold is currently a member of the Missouri Optometric Association, past president of the Southwest Missouri Optometric Society, member of the Heart of America Contact Lens Society, American Optometric Association and the Missouri Optometric Foundation. Dr. Bezold served 4 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and graduated from the U.S. Army Engineering school in 1977. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 1980. Dr. Bezold is a member of the Joplin Host Lions Club, and a member of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Dennis Bezold was raised in the German community of Hermann, MO in central Missouri, and is currently an active member with the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin. He keeps busy keeping up with his 4 grown children. Dr. Bezold  enjoys golf and plays softball.


Dr. Melissa Y. Brown

Dr. Melissa Brown graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry in St. Louis, MO in 2000. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND and received her bachelors of Science degree in 1995. She received her certification in the treatment and management of ocular disease in December 1999. This allows her to use diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and to prescribe medications for diseases that are related to the eye. Dr. Brown has been associated with the group since January 2003. Dr. Melissa Brown is currently a member of the Missouri Optometric Association, secretary/treasurer of the Southwest Missouri Optometric Society, Heart of America Contact Lens Society, and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Brown is a member of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce and is a past alumnus of the Leadership Joplin class of 2004. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa chapter International Optometric Society in April 2000. Dr. Brown was born in the community of Valley City, ND, 60 miles west of Fargo, ND. She attends the First Baptist Church of Webb City. Her spouse, Dr. Lance Brown, is also an optometrist who went back for further medical education and now practices ophthalmology at Regional Eye Center in Joplin. Any free time is quality time devoted to their 3 young children and their activities.
